Karelia University of Applied Sciences invites applications for the following position

SENIOR PROJECT RESEARCHER IN SUSTAINABILITY

to work as the project manager and researcher in the Horizon2020 INVEST4EXCELLENCE project, where partners jointly develop, coordinate and facilitate research, development and innovation (RDI) competences and activities discussing Sustainability from different points of view.

The full-time, fixed-term position is available for the period of 1.1.-31.12.2023. The grounds and basis for a fixed-term contract is to cover a parental leave. The place of work is at Karelia University of Applied Sciences in Joensuu, Finland.

Carbon Neutrality is one of the strategic choices of Karelia 2030 strategy. The strategy aims at implementing the carbon neutrality objectives of the City of Joensuu and the region of North Karelia, finding solutions to mitigate the climate change and developing the transition from non-renewable to renewable products and services to build more sustainable societies.

The tasks of the Senior Project Researcher contain:
– Coordination and management of the INVEST4EXCELLENCE project
– Contribution to the implementation and research of the work packages following the work plan
– Active co-operation with partners and stakeholders at regional, national and international levels
– Other tasks defined by the employer

Senior Project Researcher works in close collaboration with teachers and specialists from the degree programmes in Energy and Environmental Engineering and Forestry and within international partner networks.

We expect:
– Masters degree in the relevant field of education
– Relevant experience in working with multi-disciplinary projects
– References from successful cooperation with the stakeholders
– Excellent academic communication, team-working and co-creation skills
– Self-management and digital communication skills

We appreciate, if the candidate also has:
– Doctoral degree in the relevant field of education (completed or almost completed PhD degree)
– Experience in project management
– Competence in writing scientific research articles
– Experience university-industry liaisons and collaboration and ability to apply RDI results into practice together with stakeholders
– Appropriate skills in the Finnish language

The position is full-time and the employment conditions comply with the collective labour agreement of Sivista.
