Karelia Univer­sity of Applied Sciences invites applica­tions for the following posi­tion

SENIOR PROJECT RESEARCHER IN SUSTAINABILITY

to work as the project manager and researc­her in the Horizon2020 INVEST4EXCELLENCE project, where part­ners jointly develop, coor­di­nate and faci­li­tate research, deve­lop­ment and inno­va­tion (RDI) compe­tences and acti­vi­ties discus­sing Sustai­na­bi­lity from diffe­rent points of view.

The full-time, fixed-term posi­tion is avai­lable for the period of 1.1.-31.12.2023. The grounds and basis for a fixed-term cont­ract is to cover a paren­tal leave. The place of work is at Karelia Univer­sity of Applied Sciences in Joensuu, Finland.

Carbon Neut­ra­lity is one of the stra­te­gic choices of Karelia 2030 stra­tegy. The stra­tegy aims at imple­men­ting the carbon neut­ra­lity objec­ti­ves of the City of Joensuu and the region of North Karelia, finding solu­tions to miti­gate the climate change and deve­lo­ping the tran­si­tion from non-renewable to renewable products and services to build more sustai­nable socie­ties.

The tasks of the Senior Project Researc­her contain:
– Coor­di­na­tion and mana­ge­ment of the INVEST4EXCELLENCE project
– Cont­ri­bu­tion to the imple­men­ta­tion and research of the work packa­ges following the work plan
– Active co-opera­tion with part­ners and stake­hol­ders at regio­nal, natio­nal and inter­na­tio­nal levels
– Other tasks defined by the employer

Senior Project Researc­her works in close colla­bo­ra­tion with teac­hers and specia­lists from the degree program­mes in Energy and Envi­ron­men­tal Engi­nee­ring and Fore­stry and within inter­na­tio­nal partner networks.

We expect:
– Masters degree in the rele­vant field of educa­tion
– Rele­vant expe­rience in working with multi-discipli­nary projects
– Refe­rences from success­ful coope­ra­tion with the stake­hol­ders
– Excel­lent acade­mic commu­nica­tion, team-working and co-crea­tion skills
– Self-mana­ge­ment and digital commu­nica­tion skills

We appreciate, if the candi­date also has:
– Docto­ral degree in the rele­vant field of educa­tion (comple­ted or almost comple­ted PhD degree)
– Expe­rience in project mana­ge­ment
– Compe­tence in writing scien­ti­fic research articles
– Expe­rience univer­sity-industry liai­sons and colla­bo­ra­tion and ability to apply RDI results into prac­tice toget­her with stake­hol­ders
– Appropriate skills in the Finnish language

The posi­tion is full-time and the emplo­y­ment condi­tions comply with the collec­tive labour agree­ment of Sivista.
