The 2024–2025 academic year at Karelia University of Applied Sciences officially opens today, Thursday, 05.09.2024. The event, starting at 12:00 PM in the auditorium of the Tikkarinne campus, will feature a keynote speech by Provincial Director Markus Hirvonen, along with greetings from the student union POKA and staff, as well as musical performances.
Following the official opening ceremony, Karelia will participate in the Student Blast academic year kickoff event at Joensuu Market Square, a city-wide event for all Joensuu students.
“The academic year opening events have always been an important part of our university’s community spirit. It’s great that this year we can celebrate the start of the new academic year together with other students in Joensuu,” says Communications Manager Ville Kivihalme.
Approximately 1 300 new degree students have started their studies at Karelia UAS this fall.
“Our incoming students have made an excellent choice. Student satisfaction at Karelia UAS has consistently been at a very high level. I want to wish all new and returning students a successful start to the academic year.”
Karelia UAS has a total of over 4 500 students across its two campuses, Tikkarinne and Wärtsilä.
The Student Blast kickoff event will take place at Joensuu Market Square on Thursday, 05.09.2024, at 14-17, and is free to attend. More information is available at www.studentblast.fi.
