Scholarships Awarded to Karelia UAS Students by Joensuun Kauppaopetuksen Tukisäätiö

The Joensuun Kauppaopetuksen Tukisäätiö awarded a total of 84 000 € in scholarships to students pursuing university, university of applied sciences, and Riveria basic and vocational degrees in the field of business on 3.12.2024

The scholarships were distributed as follows:

  • Karelia University of Applied Sciences: 12 students each received a 2000 € scholarship for their successful academic performance.
  • Riveria Basic Degree: 32 students each received a 1000 € scholarship for their successful academic performance.
  • Riveria Vocational Degree: 18 students each received a 1000 € scholarship for their successful academic performance.
  • University of Eastern Finland: Two doctoral researchers were awarded 5000 € scholarships each for their excellently progressing dissertation research.

The Joensuun Kauppaopetuksen Tukisäätiö was established in 2006 and continues the 100-year support tradition initiated by its predecessors, the Joensuu Kauppakoulutalon Kannatusyhdistys registered association (1922-1998) and the Joensuun Kauppaopetuksen Tukiyhdistys registered association (1998-2006).

The foundation promotes, develops, and supports both in principle and financially the business education, business research, and studies in business subjects provided by non-profit or public organizations in North Karelia.

Since 2006, the Joensuun Kauppaopetuksen Tukisäätiö has awarded scholarships totaling over 0,8 million €.

The foundation’s board is chaired by Raino Törrönen, with Seppo Pölönen as vice-chairman, and board members Jarkko Miinin, Juha Mäkihonko, Antti Heliövaara, and Markku Timonen.
