With Cross-Institutional Studies you can expand your study opportunities and include studies from other universities into your own degree. Cross-Institutional Study Right and the study selection are based on contracts between universities.
Here you will find the instructions on taking part in Cross-Institutional Studies offered by Karelia as a student of another university. The instructions for Karelia’s students can be found on Karelia’s student intra.
Students of other universities
The Cross-Institutional Study Service Channel is not yet used in all universities. If you study in a university, that
- is part of the Cross-Institutional Study Network and uses the Cross-Institutional Study Service Channel, register for courses offered by Karelia in your home university’s Peppi
- does not yet use the Cross-Institutional Study Service Channel, register for courses offered by Karelia on the CampusOnline portal
When registering for a course offered by Karelia, you will receive a temporary study right to Karelia for completing the studies. If your study right at your home university ends (e.g., if you graduate or resign from your studies), your study right at Karelia will end as well even if you have not completed the studies.
The courses are online-based and are held on Karelia’s Moodle platform. The course platform opens on the first day of the studies. Further instructions on starting and completing the studies will be sent to those accepted. You can get more information on the content and description of the course from the teacher in charge of the studies.
Enrollments for courses are accepted in order of registration.
As a student you have the responsibility to make sure that the assessment of studies taken at another university have been correctly transferred to your study attainments at your home university.
Possible retakes and grade improvements must first be discussed with the teacher in charge of the study implementation.
To be able to register for Cross-Institutional Studies offered by Karelia you must have enrolled as being present and have an active study right at your home university. You will receive a study right at Karelia to complete your studies.
You can view the course selection and register for studies in your own university’s Peppi (on the Student’s Desktop). You may cancel your registration in Peppi during the registration period if your registration has not yet been accepted at Karelia. When your registration has been accepted, you are able to see it in Peppi on your ISP.
Log in to the study platform (Moodle) with your Karelia ID. When you register for your first study implementation at Karelia, you will receive a message that contains the instructions on how to activate your user. Make sure to save the message for future use. By logging in using the Karelia ID, you are able to use study materials that are not provided on the Moodle platform.
The teacher in charge of the course at Karelia will assess your studies and register the attainment on Karelia’s student register within four weeks (28 days) of the student having completed the studies. The assessment is automatically transferred to your study attainments in your home university’s Peppi. If you retake the same course, the assessment will automatically transfer to Peppi according to the process described above as well.
If you home university does not use the Cross-Institutional Study Service Channel, you can register for courses offered by Karelia on the joint CampusOnline.fi portal of Universities of Applied Sciences. You can find the course selection on the portal’s Course tab. The link to the registration and the instructions needed can be found in the description of each of the courses.
After the registration, you will receive an automatic e-mail confirmation from the system that you registration has succeeded. The instructions on starting and completing the studies will be sent to those accepted on the course closer to the beginning of the studies.
You can cancel your registration within the registration period by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. The message must include your name and the name of the course, the registration of which you want to cancel. You will receive an e-mail confirmation when your cancellation has been processed.
The assessments of courses taken through the CampusOnline portal are not automatically transferred to the student’s home university, and you must take care of the transfer of the study credit according to the instructions of your home university. You can check your home university’s procedure and guidelines on the CampusOnline.fi webpage. If your study credit is not shown on the My Studyinfo -service, you may ask for a Transcript of Records by e-mail at [email protected].
If you are dissatisfied with the assessment given to you, please contact us by e-mail at [email protected] to begin the reassessment procedure. The request must be made within 14 days of receiving the notice of the assessment.
