The International Office arranges a pre-arrival webinar and orientation days for the incoming exchange students at the beginning of the autumn and spring semester. The programme will be sent to the students well in advance by email.
The next pre-arrival webinar for incoming exchange students will be in June 2025. A link to the webinar will be sent to the accepted incoming exchange students in May.
The orientation days for Autumn 2025 exchange students will take place on 14 – 15 August 2025 on Karelia’s Tikkarinne campus.
Before the orientation programme
Exchange students are recommended to arrive in Joensuu a couple of days before the beginning of the orientation days to have time to settle in. If you are coming for the Spring semester, please note that 6th January (Epiphany) is a public holiday and the university and Joensuun Elli Student Housing Office are closed.
During the orientation programme
During the orientation programme students will receive useful information about studies and learning at Karelia University of Applied Sciences, Finnish culture and society, and learn many practical things about living in Finland and in Joensuu. Students get to know each other and Karelia’s tutor students.
After the orientation programme
After the orientation programme there is an introductory course in the Finnish language and culture (course code KP10020, 2 ECTS).
