My competence has grown fast. I learn by studying independently, and from books, teachers, classmates. New things every day, because everyone just shares their knowledge and experiences with others. We have students of different ages in our group, so everyone has their own experience to share and teach others.
As a happy Karelia UAS student I’d like to share my story about studying here! I knew this university from my brother as he was an exchange student here. He advised me to come and study here for several reasons. First of all, Finland has one of the best education systems in the world. Secondly, you don’t have to be perfect in English language, but you should know enough to study. Also, there is an English refresher course to help you with that! Thirdly, the teachers are helpful, hardworking, and lovely to everyone!
I chose the Degree Programme in Industrial Management due to its diverse career opportunities. I also like that it focuses in a variety of engineering and business subjects. For example, Risk management, Marketing, Sales, Bidding, Manufacturing, and many other interesting courses. One of the exciting projects we students have accomplished was a 3D print of a catapult using AutoCAD to shape it. Then we used a 3D printer on our campus to print it. It was incredible!

Karelia UAS is located in Joensuu. It is my favorite city in Finland, even if I haven’t seen many cities so far. It is full of sceneries, lakes, berries, mushrooms, rabbits walking around neighborhoods and forests. And a lot of other fascinating nature-related sites. It is a peaceful place, but with a big number of international students and student activities, parties, and events! There is also the POKA student union which has a lot to offer for students as well. I do sports when I have free time. I hope, in the future I can master the Finnish language, complete my studies and start working here.
I would like to welcome everyone to study at Karelia UAS. Industrial management is a degree that comprises a variety of courses in different fields and they are also related to each other. You’ll learn and develop vital skills for your working life.
