Growing compe­tence in Indus­trial Management

As a happy Karelia UAS student I’d like to share my story about study­ing here! I knew this univer­sity from my brother as he was an exchange student here. He advised me to come and study here for several reasons. First of all, Finland has one of the best educa­tion systems in the world. Secondly, you don’t have to be perfect in English language, but you should know enough to study. Also, there is an English refresher course to help you with that! Thirdly, the teach­ers are helpful, hard­work­ing, and lovely to everyone!

I chose the Degree Programme in Indus­trial Manage­ment due to its diverse career oppor­tu­ni­ties. I also like that it focuses in a variety of engi­neer­ing and busi­ness subjects. For example, Risk manage­ment, Market­ing, Sales, Bidding, Manu­fac­tur­ing, and many other inter­est­ing courses. One of the excit­ing projects we students have accom­plished was a 3D print of a cata­pult using AutoCAD to shape it. Then we used a 3D printer on our campus to print it. It was incredible! 

My compe­tence has grown fast. I learn by study­ing inde­pen­dently, and from books, teach­ers, class­mates. New things every day, because every­one just shares their knowl­edge and expe­ri­ences with others. We have students of differ­ent ages in our group, so every­one has their own expe­ri­ence to share and teach others.

Karelia UAS is located in Joensuu. It is my favorite city in Finland, even if I haven’t seen many cities so far. It is full of scener­ies, lakes, berries, mush­rooms, rabbits walking around neigh­bor­hoods and forests. And a lot of other fasci­nat­ing nature-related sites. It is a peace­ful place, but with a big number of inter­na­tional students and student activ­i­ties, parties, and events! There is also the POKA student union which has a lot to offer for students as well. I do sports when I have free time. I hope, in the future I can master the Finnish language, complete my studies and start working here.

I would like to welcome every­one to study at Karelia UAS. Indus­trial manage­ment is a degree that comprises a variety of courses in differ­ent fields and they are also related to each other. You’ll learn and develop vital skills for your working life.
